Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026 (Popplo 1.2)

No account.
No ads.
Your tasks stay on your device.
We never sell your data.

This policy explains how Popplo (“the app”, “we”) handles information when you use Popplo on iPhone and iPad. Popplo is made by an independent developer, Aslıhan Çavuşoğlu.

What stays on your device

The tasks you create, page names and colors, repeat rules, reminder times, your Pop Jar history, Pop Level and outfits, and your preferences (such as your chosen character, bubble colors, sound and motion settings) are stored locally on your device. We don't collect them and they are not sent to our servers. Popplo doesn't have any. Deleting the app removes this data from that device.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand which features are used and fix what's confusing, Popplo can send anonymous usage events to PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the European Union (PostHog EU Cloud). The events describe actions, not content:

  • App and onboarding: the app was opened; onboarding or the short demo was started, finished or skipped; the What's New or update card was shown.
  • Tasks and pages: a task was added, edited, popped or put back; bubbles were scattered; the board was reset; a page was swiped or renamed (only whether it has a name); a repeat was set (only the kind of repeat and how many weekdays); a reminder was set (only whether it is on, whether a date was chosen, and the notification permission state).
  • Progress: a Pop point was earned, a Pop Level was reached, a gift was opened, an outfit item was worn, the wardrobe, Pop Jar or stats were opened, a streak continued.
  • Popplo Pro: a free limit or Pro option was reached, the paywall was shown, and how it ended (purchased, cancelled or unavailable).
  • Widget and notifications: the widget tip was shown or dismissed, the answer to the notification permission prompt, a reminder or notification was opened.
  • Settings: which setting changed, the chosen character, and which saved part had to be reset after a backup (never its contents).

Events can carry coarse context: app version, device model, iOS version, language, time zone, whether you have Pro, and rounded counts such as the number of tasks or pages, your Pop Level, how long a task was on the board (in ranges like “under an hour”) and how long its text was (in ranges like “11 to 30 characters”).

These events:

  • never include the text of your tasks, your page names, your reminder times or dates, or anything else you type. A filter in the app also drops any field that could hold free text before an event is sent;
  • are tied to a random identifier created by the app, not your name, email, Apple Account or advertising identifier;
  • are sent without IP-based location, and are not used for advertising or tracking across apps or websites.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage stats. Sending stops immediately. If Popplo ever can't read your saved settings, this switch starts off and nothing is sent until you turn it on again.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and unlock Popplo Pro. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user ID, product identifiers, purchase history and subscription status to deliver and restore purchases and provide purchase and subscription reporting, such as revenue, renewals and trial conversions. See Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

RevenueCat does not forward purchase or subscription events to PostHog. If anonymous usage statistics are enabled, the app reports paywall interactions and in-app purchase outcomes directly to PostHog as described above. Turning off usage statistics stops those app analytics events; purchase validation, restoration and RevenueCat's purchase and subscription reporting continue.

Device motion

Popplo uses your device's motion sensor so bubbles roll when you tilt your phone and your character gently moves. You can turn this off in Settings → motion effects. Motion data is processed on your device and is never stored or sent anywhere.

Reminders

If you allow notifications, Popplo can send optional local reminders: reminders you set on a task (including repeating tasks), a daily nudge when tasks are waiting, and one if you haven't opened the app for a couple of days. All reminders are planned and delivered entirely on your device by iOS. There is no push server, and reminder times and task text are never sent to us or to the analytics service. Turn them off on each task, in Popplo's Settings, or in iOS Settings → Notifications → Popplo.

Home Screen widget

If you add the Popplo widget, a copy of a few of your tasks and your chosen character is kept in a shared container on your device (an App Group) so the widget can show them. When you pop a task from the widget, a note of it is stored there until the app picks it up. This data never leaves your device. Keep in mind that task text is visible on your Home Screen.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent your personal information.
  • We don't show ads.
  • We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't use your advertising identifier.
  • We don't require an account, email address or phone number.

Retention and deletion

On-device data stays until you reset your board or delete the app. Anonymous usage events are kept only as long as needed for product analytics and then deleted. Purchase records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies and legal obligations. Because we don't know who you are, we can't link anonymous events back to you, but if you'd like us to try deleting anything, email us and we'll help.

Children

Popplo is a general-audience app suitable for all ages. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to its processing. Turning off usage stats in Settings stops the app's PostHog usage analytics. For any request, contact us below.

Changes

If Popplo's features or the law change, we'll update this policy and the date at the top of this page.
